Introduction
What didn't I like?
There are signs just before Passport Control on arrival at the airport in Lima informing you that paedophilia is illegal.
I have almost no knowledge as to the level of this problem in Peru.
However, if it is a problem in developed countries, where some measures of control exist, I am sure it is a problem in Peru.
Yep, it is a big problem: (just done a bit of research)
"From January to July in 2008, there were 3,697 reported rapes against children in the capital, which
represents 50% of the 7,377 complaints from across the country.
This figure is alarming because in 2007 there were 2,409 such cases in Lima and Callao."

Why have I raised this topic?
I have raised this topic because of two events that occurred during my visit.
The first is:
That I nearly (through an intermediary) introduced a minor (a surfer from Huanchaco) to
someone who was subsequently (Oct 2008) arrested and imprisoned for being a paedophile.
(see link, below: Pepe Whilar)
The second is on a visit to see one of my previous homes in Peru.
I found that part of the land was now a "holiday retreat" for a religious sect.
A taxi was just leaving as I arrived at the gates.
Inside were two passangers; a middle-aged over-weight man and a young 8 or 9 year old boy.
My instincts (which are good) told me that "it didn't look right".
Furthermore, I was quickly escorted off the premises by the security guard; I was only 2 metres inside the gate!
